Greetings and Salutations!
Briefly, my spiritual insights for the week came from a study of afflictions. I'm amazed by the ability that trials have to mold us into disciples of Jesus Christ. There is no better place to learn about anxiety, depression and emotional pain than D&C 121 and 122. Afflictions are brief and give experience for our good. Here's some of the scriptures i studied: 2 Ne 2:2, 2 Ne 4:26 trials don't have to weaken us, Mosiah 24:13-14, Alma 7:11, Alma 17: 11 (Alma 26: 27; Alma 31: 31; Alma 34: 41) all about patience in afflictions, Hel. 12: 3 they cause us to remember the Lord, D&C 24: 1 the Lord lifts men out of afflictions, D&C 133: 53 the Lord was afflicted in all afflictions of the redeemed. My two favorite though were these: Jacob 3:1 the Lord consoles the pure in heart. Most scriptures seem to reprove the wicked while this one comforts the righteous. The second is Alma 62:41. I now understand the war chapters. The humbling power of affliction in war is unmatched. There are so many similarities to the wars and the spiritual battles we go through everyday. I'll have to get into those another time. I love you guys and miss you a lot.
